The following are examples of services offered at selected Catholic Charities sites: Financial Literacy/Real World Money Management - These programs offer debt management information, consultation, budgeting and other educational services to help families manage their finances more efficiently. Last year, Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County provided financial literacy to 729 people through group or individual sessions and 435 people participated in Catholic Charities of Stark County's Real World money Management program. Parenting Skills Training - This program focuses on the needs of single parents, as well as couples to reinforce the value of cooperation, encouragement, responsibility, communication skills and discipline in building positive parent-child relationships. In 2009, this program worked with 508 individuals. Divorce Mediation - Helps families considering divorce resolve their conflicts. This service helps children experiencing divorce with coping skills, offers support groups for divorcing parents and assists parents to increase their self-sufficiency. Last year, 206 divorcing parents received mandated mediation services to help them recognize the impact of divorce on their children.Grief Counseling & Bereavement Services - providing specific information for children and adults to help them understand the complicated process of grieving. This service is also extended to grief groups on selected topics. Premarital Counseling & Assessment - helping couples mutually explore the realities of married life and assisting them in the development of communication skills that will enhance their future life together. This service is also available at the request of clergy. |
